Repairs and Restorations

I have many years of experience restoring and reproducing lighting fixtures. From a simple lamp rewire to a complete tear down. Where possible the original sockets are restored and new wiring is added to update the fixture to our modern safety standards. I always try to keep the fixture as original as possible and prefer to clean and not polish the fixtures to keep as much of the true patina as possible. Some fixtures however require a bit more care. After 20 years making reproduction lighting and working directly with museum pieces and curators developing finishes to match the original I can usually turn a fixture someone was ready to throw away into a beautiful lighting fixture you would hang in a place of prominence in your home.

Pair of antique carriage lanterns made by Brewster and Co. coach builders, circa 1850.
Sconces were in extremely rough shape having been modified to electric sometime in the early 1900’s. Lanterns constructed of steel and brass with major rusting on the steel and corrosion on the brass parts.

Lanterns appear to have repairs dating from early 1900’s through the late 20th century. Door glass had been replaced with Plexiglas sometime in the late 1900’s and the doors had come un-soldered.
